Board of Directors
Nana Adjoa Hackman
Chairperson
Her areas of specialisation are corporate governance, banking, and petroleum law & policy. She has an LLM with honours from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum & Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP), University of Dundee and an MBA with merit from Imperial College Business School, London.
Ms. Hackman began her career in private legal practice at Kudjawu & Co, a leading law firm in Ghana in 2003. Between 2009 and August 2016, she worked with the United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Limited and rose to the position of Head of Legal Department and Company Secretary.
Ms. Hackman has extensive business experience, having set up and run companies in the media and real estate sectors, at the board level since 2004. She was between 2017 and 2021 a member of the Board of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation.
She is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, the Society for Petroleum Engineers, and the Energy Institute, and has published articles on the petroleum industry. Ms. Hackman sits on the global advisory board of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council. She was a member of the panel of judges for the Women of the Future & TESCO 50 Rising Stars in ESG awards in 2022, 2023 and 2024. She is also the Founder of Drive to Inspire-Africa, an NGO focused on youth empowerment through education and mentorship.
Anthony De Graft-Johnson
Executive Director
Anthony currently serves as CEO of an energy consultancy firm, where he applies his operational and financial acumen to support strategic growth and optimization in the energy sector. His leadership is marked by a strong track record in restructuring and driving digital modernization, and leading enterprise-wide process reengineering and governance reforms.
Anthony has also facilitated the rollout of derivative instruments, integrated financial systems, and developed liquidity management procedures—all with a sharp focus on regulatory compliance and institutional resilience.
Holding an MBA from the African Leadership University, Anthony brings a forward-thinking, Pan-African leadership perspective to his work. He combines strategic insight with ethical stewardship, consistently aligning financial systems with broader development objectives such as sustainability, transparency, and people-centered governance.
In the energy sector, Anthony leverages his extensive background to help clients navigate market complexities, enhance financial and operational performance, and adopt responsible, future-proof strategies. His leadership philosophy is rooted in long-term value creation, regulatory foresight, and sustainable transformation.
Edwin Alfred Provencal
Executive Director
His earlier roles at Vodafone and Globacom showcased his expertise in strategy, infrastructure development, and customer service. At NCBC (Vodafone Wholesale), he achieved 500% customer growth and 2000% revenue increase within a year. As Managing Director of exZeed Company Ltd, he improved customer satisfaction from 32% to 78% and secured a $2.5M BPO contract.
Dr. Provençal is a recognized thought leader, having shaped national ICT policy and represented Ghana at major international forums. He played a key role in deploying a 7000km fiber backbone for Ghana’s E-Government initiative and connecting the country’s internet exchanges to Google’s cache server.
He holds a PhD in Development Economics, MPhil in Economics, MBA in MIS, and a B.Sc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. His professional development includes Harvard Business School, IMD, PMP, and ACCA certifications. A recipient of multiple leadership awards, he is widely respected for his visionary leadership and cross-sector impact.
Philip Edem Kutsienyo
Executive Director
Philip’s core expertise lies in advising on energy transactions, regulatory compliance, and structuring petroleum product supply deals. He has played a central role in facilitating the entry of United Arab Emirates-based oil trading companies into the Ghanaian market, supporting successful petroleum supply transactions with both Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs) and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST). His involvement covers the full spectrum of transaction support—from deal structuring and contract negotiation to regulatory clearance and logistics planning.
He has acted as local counsel on major cross-border transactions, crude oil mandates, and joint operating agreements, with additional experience in financial services regulation and infrastructure finance.
Ebow Brew-Hammond
Independent Director
He has gained a wealth of experience in matters involving commerce, real estate, debt restructuring and recovery, corporate immigration, and project finance in the areas of construction and energy. His area of interest and concentration, however, is that of commercial transactions.
Following the completion of his bachelor’s degree in law, Ebow undertook a three-month internship in Shanghai, China, with Zhonglun W&D law firm and gained valuable experience familiarising himself with the Chinese business and legal environment. Ebow began his legal career as an Associate at Fugar & Company and is a partner at Africa Legal Associates.
Ebow is a crucial member of the Olja team. His enthusiasm, attention to detail and positive disposition to hard work contributes exceptionally towards the teams’ achievement of its objectives.
Charles Mensah
Independent Director
Charles has over twenty-six years experience within the building public sector Capacity in the Public Financial Management Act and implementing management and financial systems for companies in Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and in the United Kingdom.
He is a product of the University of Derby (UK) and holds an MBA from Manchester Business School (UK). He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) UK and a member of ICA (Ghana).
Charles is an Alumni of the Kennedy school for Government Executive Program (Harvard University) on “Driving Government Performance” and also Cyber Security-Managing Risk in the information age. He is a Sage ERP Certified Consultant. Charles is the founder and Managing Partner of Trust Consult.
Egbert Faibille Jr.
Independent Director
A Lawyer with over 20 years experience, Egbert led efforts for the attraction of investments into Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector whilst in office.
Presently, Egbert is the Managing Partner of Messrs. Faibille & Faibille, an Accra-based law firm. The firm is focused on providing legal services in Oil & Gas, Corporate Commercial Law, Energy Law, Arbitration among others.
Egbert was a member of the Governing Board of the Petroleum Commission during his tenure. He also chaired the Commission’s Local Content Committee with a clear mandate to promote and develop local content in Ghana’s E&P sector. He was a member of all the Board sub-committees of the Commission.
Egbert has a thorough understanding of the E&P value chain from Exploration, Discovery, Appraisal, Field Development, Production, Plugging and Abandonment to Decommissioning. He advises on E&P contract negotiations, risks and investments among others. In his role as CEO of the Petroleum Commission, Egbert participated in a number of international conferences and programmes to advocate the imperatives of investments for Ghana’s E&P sector. Some of these conferences include the Offshore Technologies Conference, Africa Oil Week, and the Africa Energy Week.
Egbert holds a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law. In addition, he possesses an LLM (Oil and Gas Law) degree from the University of Aberdeen, LLM (International Corporate & Commercial Law) degree from King’s College London and an LLM (Dispute Resolution) degree from University of Aberdeen. He also possesses a Certificate in the Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies from the Robert Kennedy School, Harvard University.
He is a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN). Egbert is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Osei Tutu Bonsu
Company Secretary
Osei worked at the Legal Department of United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Limited (UBA) and there he gained relevant working experience in the law and corporate secretarial practice. After graduating from the Ghana Law School, he has attained sufficient proficiency in private practice at Africa Legal Associates.
Osei undertakes a broad range of corporate and commercial work. He has provided professional legal services in Ghana for oil and gas companies such as Neo Energy Asia (UK) Limited, Jonmoore International Limited, Wayoe Engineering and Construction Limited amongst others.

Nana Akonu Amartey

Akonu began his career in a mid-tier accounting firm before establishing Akonu & Partners, where he has since helped companies scale through robust financial systems, risk-controlled growth, and tax-efficient strategies. He is highly regarded for assisting multinational clients to navigate the complexities of African tax systems—consistently reducing tax liabilities, penalties, and compliance risks through proactive structuring and planning.
A strong proponent of digital finance, Akonu has successfully championed the adoption of cloud-based accounting platforms and ERPs, driving automation, visibility, and performance analytics within client organizations. His leadership style is hands-on and data-driven, combining technical depth with strategic foresight to support executive decision-making.
With proven experience across Ghana and broader African markets, Akonu is frequently consulted on cross-border structuring, tax optimization, and the deployment of finance technologies tailored to emerging economies.

A globe-trotting family man with a soft spot for purposeful travel, he brings global perspective and local insight to every negotiation, making oil deals smarter, cleaner, and more strategic—one barrel at a time.
Yvonne Ivy Sakyiwaa
HR / Administration
With over seven years of experience in administration, Yvonne has developed strong competence in human resource operations, business administration, and project coordination. She began her career in the Judicial Service of Ghana where she served in the Human Resource and Administration Department, later joining the the financial sector as Team Lead for Data Entry Personnel at Liberty Asset Management.
Currently serving as the Office Manager at Africa Legal Associates (ALA), Yvonne plays a key managerial role in overseeing daily office operations and leading the firm’s human resource function. Her responsibilities include policy implementation, recruitment coordination, employee relations, and performance management; in addition to supporting client engagement and onboarding processes. Known for her exceptional interpersonal skills and professionalism, she consistently earns commendations from management, colleagues, and clients alike.
